Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"There are many good Gelateria in Florence but Barrocino is among the best Ive tried, and I myself is a gelato maker from Malaysia always looking for inspirations In Italy. Chef Pierpaolo uses his creativity to make gelato more interesting while at the same time maintaining good quality traditional flavours Texture wise very pleasant in your mouth, just like how a gelato should feel. My favorite in the city!"
"Great creamy gelato, I had their affogato based on a recommendation of Rob and Kim and it did not disappoint. And as far as comparing to the viral affogato place you just can’t compare as both are unique in taste. So do what I do hit both and enjoy."
"This is a great gelato location just near our hotel. My wife found it and construed it to be very popular. The lines are long, and with good reason. I snagged some Vaniglia Madagascar in a cup/bowl and a scoop of the triple chocolate confection. They were both amazing. They have an assortment of brownies and will top your gelato with waffle crisps or chocolates. These was just what we needed to cleanse our palates after a dinner of delicious pizza nearby. Bravissimo!"
"I’m the tour guide .Affogato with beautiful decorations different flavors you can choose , we picked 3 flavors , classic, pistachio, dark chocolate, they are all great !! The one I took is pistachio with pistachio flakes ! Super recommended! I think it’s better than the classic ! Besides this ofc you can choose just the gelato , they have some interesting flavors!"
"One of the best gelato I’ve had in Florence. Interesting flavours - salted pistachio, sweet wine, and fritella di riso. Sorbet flavours - mango and limone were refreshing too. Came back two days in a row to take away. Nour and Sara were helpful and friendly, many thanks for the wafers!"
"I read a lot of the bad reviews, which are hilarious. This place is perfectly fine. The staff were not in your face friendly but were genuinely nice and had a good joke with us. The gelato is very high quality. I tried a couple of the more unusual flavours on the little spoon and they were very interesting but I settled on a big cone of hazelnut and the one with early grey tea in it. The price is expensive but from the other gelato places I went to before this one, it’s not crazy, and I like knowing im buying high quality and ethically sourced ingredients. I went around 8pm and I waited in line for about 5 minutes, but the person that served us gave us just as much time and attention as the people in front of us. All in all really happy! The gave us a card with his name on it but genuinely can’t make out what it is because I’m idiot but I’ll add a photo."
"I don’t really want the line to get any longer but this is THE place. Gelato is in covered metal canisters, not piled high, so you already know it’s legit. The affogato is simply delicious (always vanilla, no toppings). Sara and Pier are lovely and kind, even when dealing with the extraordinary line around the corner (it goes quickly and is totally worth the wait). If I lived in Firenze, I would come here everyday and become their best friend. Ciao!"
"We had an affogato with 2 gelato flavours and Mimmo prepared it beautifully with so much patience despite a big queue. It was veryyy yummy. We also loved their honey and lavender gelato. The staff is very friendly and don’t try to rush anyone despite being super busy."
